One of the biggest questions the Elite fandom has right now is whether or not the Spanish high school mystery show is coming back for a second season. There is a source claiming Netflix has already greenlit Elite season 2. However, I’m not sure how credible the source is.
Update October 17, 2018: Netflix has tweeted about having renewed Elite for a second season.

Netflix released Elite on October 5, 2018, to positive reviews and a very invested fandom. The show features many story elements The CW watching crowd are familiar with. But it is the intriguing cast of characters as well as a lot of shipping material which has the audience hooked.
On top of that, Elite doesn’t shy away from queer elements. It displays queer relationships at levels you know many traditional TV shows won’t reach no matter how queer positive some of them praise themselves to be.
There is a wonderful queer storyline featuring Omar and Ander. As of eight-episode first season, the writers have done an impressive job of using Omar and Ander’s relationship to shed light on topics including the different experiences queer individuals have due to their religion and socioeconomic status. I wrote an entire article about the two. Ha!
The show also features Carla, Polo, and Christian in a relationship which the writers have used to address topics such as sexuality and polyamory as well as the stigmas throuples have to face.
Elite seems to have something for a wide range of tastes. So, of course, the fandom is waiting to know if Elite season 2 will indeed be coming to Netflix.
Right now, as far as I can tell, Netflix hasn’t made an official announcement about renewing the series. However, according to an exclusive from El Confedencial, the second season of Elite has already been greenlit by the streaming giant.
If the exclusive is indeed true, I hope Netflix decides to let fans know Elite season 2 is coming soon using their official Twitter account or something.
Netflix already took away Sense8 even though the show had a very passionate fandom. I don’t want Elite to share the same fate.
What do you think? Will Netflix allow Elite to return for a second outing? Let us know.
