Geekiary News Briefs! “Glass” Opens Low, Fantastic Beasts 3 Delayed, and More!

Welcome to today’s Geekiary News Briefs! I will be covering the recent box office results, which showed Glass opening low while Dragon Ball Super: Broly was able to make an impressive amount of money. Also, the production on Fantastic Beasts 3 has been delayed and I hope it is because Warner Bros. wants Rowling to redo the script. Of course, I will talk about more stuff, too!

I’m going to begin by making an announcement. We have decided to accompany Geekiary News Briefs with video content because we know not everyone has time to read a news article and prefer watching and listening to newsy content while on-the-go.

So, here’s the video for today’s Geekiary News Briefs is below! There are two stories I wasn’t able to cover in the video because of certain time constraints.

The box office results are in, and it seems the hype around Glass from director M. Night Shyamalan wasn’t enough to meet the studio’s initial expectations. The movie had a $40.58 million debut, which was lower than the expected $60-$70 million.

I did watch Glass and I have to say I was expecting more. Why does Shyamalan continue to disappoint? How many of you want to see him handle a TV project next?

All of the recent controversy surrounding Kevin Hart hasn’t deterred his box office results. The Upside, even though it is a problematic film, continues to make money for the comedian.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly had an impressive debut of $10.6 million. Do read our review.

According to Deadline, production on Fantastic Beasts 3 has been delayed. Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald was a crime against the Harry Potter franchise and I hope the delay is because the studio wants Rowling to rework on her script.

Leslie Jones seems to be upset about the planned Ghostbusters 3 movie ignoring the women-led 2016 installment. I understand where Jones is coming from, but the fact their movie ignored the original, I think she should have expected Ghostbusters 3 to do the same with her film (if it does).

Shazam has a new teaser trailer out!

According to CBR, the pilot for the Batwoman live-action series for The CW will begin shooting very soon. Are you excited about it?

Leaks of the new Avengers: Endgame toy line offer some spoilers about what you can expect from the upcoming MCU film.

Coming to what I wasn’t able to cover in the video, new footage for Pokemon: Detective Pikachu has been released.

H.Bomberguy has been continuously streaming himself playing Donkey Kong 64 to raise money for U.K.-based charity Mermaids, an organization offering support for transgender children, teenagers, and their families. He has raised more than $340,000. He is still streaming (as of writing this)!
