Halle Berry in Talks to Play Head of CIA in Sequel to Kingsman
The sequel to the surprise hit Kingsman: The Secret Service is all set to include two very badass female characters, and I can’t wait!
According to Deadline, Oscar-winner Halle Berry is currently in talks to star in the sequel to the action-spy movie Kingsman: The Secret Service. If Halle accepts the deal then she will play the head of the CIA for a two-picture deal with Fox. Not only will this deal make Halle part of a successful franchise, it will also be Berry’s return to Fox after her X-Men films, where she played the iconic comic book character, Storm.
Halle has played the role of spy before in Die Another Day as Giacinta ‘Jinx’ Johnson. I liked her in the role because, along with being a Bond girl, her character was also the American counterpart to the British spy and was in no manner lesser than him.
To make things even more exciting, Oscar-winner Julianne Moore is also in talks to play the main villain. The possibility of having both Halle Berry and Julianne Moore in the film, with hopefully meaty roles, already has me looking forward to the sequel that is aiming for a June 16, 2017 release date. Director Matthew Vaughn will return to helm the sequel.
While Halle ended her two-season run on Extant last year, she will be seen in the upcoming action thriller Kidnap, which is set to hit theatres on May 13, 2016. In the film, Halle stars as a mother who will stop at nothing to find her kidnapped son. The actress is also working with CBS as an executive producer on a legal drama, starring a biracial lawyer, currently titled Legalese.
What do you think about the possibility of Halle Berry joining the Kingsman franchise? What are your thoughts about Julianne Moore playing the villain? Let us know!
