Justice League Action Season 1 Part 1 “Superpowers Unite!” – DVD Review
If you’re looking for a fun and action-filled animated series involving DC Comics superheroes, Justice League Action is for you. Fans can binge-watch 26 episodes of the hit Cartoon Network show through the Justice League Action Season 1 Part 1 “Superpowers Unite!” 2-Disc set DVD release.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.
I’ve been looking forward to Justice League Action since its announcement. It’s a fun series showing different superheroes from DC Comics working together and saving the day in 11-minute long episodes. Of course, there are stand-alone storylines that focus on the ‘Trinity’ (Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman) but there are also numerous episodes that shine the spotlight on other characters such as Firestorm, Zatanna, Constantine, Swamp Thing, and a whole lot more.
Many of the ‘minor heroes’ get to team up with members of the ‘Trinity’ and show audiences that they’re cool, too. For me, the episodes that feature Space Cabbie are some of the best in the Justice League Action Season 1 Part 1 DVD release. He is such a fun character!
Here’s the official synopsis:
Witness the Justice League like never before in this all-new animated series where the pace is quick, the action is relentless and the fun is non-stop! The “Trinity” of DC’s Justice League– Superman (voiced by Jason J. Lewis), Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Wonder Woman (Rachel Kimsey) – are joined by a galaxy of rotating allies and enemies like John Constantine, Zatanna, Booster Gold, Plastic Man, Lobo, Mr. Freeze, Black Adam and Swamp Thing. The Super Heroes must battle enemies that include space invaders and bizarre forces of magic as they try to defend Earth from Super-Villains intent on destroying the planet. No matter the threat, the Justice League is ready for the challenge.
Justice League Action: Season 1 Part 1 “Superpowers Unite” features the voice talents of Kevin Conroy (Batman), Jason J. Lewis (Superman), Rachel Kimsey (Wonder Woman), Mark Hamill (The Joker, Swamp Thing), Carl Reiner (The Wizard), James Woods (Lex Luthor), Jon Cryer (Felix Faust), Christian Slater (Deadshot), Sean Astin (Shazam), Ken Jeong (Toyman), Diedrich Bader (Booster Gold), Andy Richter (Chronos), Jake T. Austin (Blue Beetle), Mena Suvari (Killer Frost), Lacey Chabert (Zatanna), Jerry O’Connell (The Atom), and Patton Oswalt (Space Cabbie). Casting also includes some clever nods to fanboy favorites of TV and film, like Michael Dorn (Atrocitus), Armin Shimerman (Zilius Zox), Peter Stormare (Mr. Freeze), Noel Fisher (Clarion the Witch Boy), Jasika Nicole (Vixen), Khary Payton (Cyborg), and Robert Picardo (Harvey Dent/Two-Face).
The front of the DVD packaging features the main artwork. The back has details about the release as well as the episode list. Both DVDs are easy to navigate because of the simple menu screens. The picture and video quality are on par with standard DVD releases from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. I experienced no video or audio problems.
The animation style is colorful yet simple. Everything has a dynamic feel to it. Also, Justice League Action boasts an impressively huge voice cast. Seeing so many talented individuals willing to be a part of the current series makes me happy when I’m watching the episodes. It’s good stuff!
