Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn Are Back in New Trailer For Amazon’s “Making the Cut”

Fans of Project Runway who have been waiting to see Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn back together again need to mark their calendars for Making the Cut coming to Amazon Prime Video on March 27, 2020.

According to NewNowNext, Making the Cut is going to be a 10-episode series that features 12 designers battling it out in the fashion world to win a million dollars for their brand, a mentorship with Amazon Fashion head Christine Beauchampas, and the opportunity to sell an exclusive fashion line on, you guessed it, Amazon.

Variety states that two episodes will air weekly. The show will run for five weeks, with the finale airing on April 24, 2020. Viewers can buy the winning look from Amazon as soon as each episode airs.

From the trailer, it’s clear Amazon decided to give this latest offering a big budget. All of the scenes in the trailer look expensive. They even got freaking supermodel Naomi Campbell to show up as one of the judges and I’m already sold!

While I still watch Project Runway, I do know about some people who think the franchise just hasn’t been the same since Gunn and Klum left. I wouldn’t blame them for having such an opinion. Gunn and Klum did stick with the franchise for 16 seasons after all.

Apparently, Making the Cut is the ‘big leagues’ of reality-show fashion competitions.

“I would say Project Runway is the undergraduate program, Making the Cut is the graduate and Ph.D. program,” Gunn shared at a recent Television Critics Association panel.

Netflix also dipped into the fashion competition reality-show market with Next in Fashion. Now, I’m going to be real for a minute. I was excited about that show (it premiered on Netflix on January 29, 2020), but it didn’t meet the expectations I had. For some reason, Tan France and Alexa Chung just felt out of place in their roles.

Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum ARE Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum. They both just feel… elevated (something that is also very clear from the trailer).

Again, Making the Cut is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video come March 27, 2020.
