Riverdale Season 2 DVD Review – All The Cheryl and Toni Deleted Scenes!
Riverdale: The Complete Second Season is currently available on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital. So, if you want to own all 22-episodes along with some interesting extra features, I recommend picking up a physical copy. Also, while the show still has some problematic elements, as far as my opinion goes, binge-watching the Riverdale Season 2 DVD made for a better viewing experience than waiting for weekly episodes. Riverdale is definitely a binge-worthy show.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own
The debut season of Riverdale attracted a lot of viewers, resulting in a “phenomenal 60% average viewership growth,” in the series’ second season, according to Rosemary Markson, WBHE Senior Vice President, Television Marketing. Let’s see if the viewing numbers continue to be high for the third season.
Anyway, coming to the 4-disc Riverdale Season 2 DVD release, the series’ sophomore outing ended up being 22-episodes long (the first season was only 13-episodes). So, of course, even crazier stuff happened. Riverdale isn’t a masterpiece. But it sure is fun to watch even if you might cringe at a few scenes.
The second season gave us a mysterious serial killer, creepy parents, teen melodrama, and numerous plot threads. I can’t wait to see what more shenanigans the third season has in store. However, I hope the series (season 4 and onward) goes back to being smaller than 22-episodes to do away with certain pacing issues and filler content.

One of the things you might have noticed about the Riverdale Season 2 DVD release are the deleted scenes accompanying every episode. While most of these deleted scenes don’t necessarily add a lot to the show, I personally liked the ones featuring Cheryl Blossom (my favorite character) and Toni Topaz. I can’t understand why these scenes were deleted in the first place. They added a lot to Cheryl and Toni’s relationship. Do better, Riverdale editors. Do better!
Cheryl went through a lot in the second season. She was even part of a queer conversion therapy plot thread which… don’t ask. I mean, I can’t bring myself to drag Riverdale when it doesn’t try to prop itself as the greatest show in the world. It knows what it is, and because of that, I tend to put my harsher criticisms away when talking about it.
The DVD release’s 16×9 widescreen format video presentation makes for a clear picture, ensuring even the most dimly lit scenes show you what’s going on. The Audio presentation is in English 5.1 and I didn’t experience any problems with the sound.
