Developer Owned by Gravity and publisher Ulisses Spiele launch the next chapter of The Dark Eye (an award-winning German tabletop RPG) with Forgotten Fables: Wolves on the Westwind. The fantasy RPG is currently available on Steam!

Forgotten Fables: Wolves on the Westwind takes players to the fantastical world of Aventuria where they will get to experience a narrative-driven RPG filled with dangerous myths. Working with almost 40 years of lore and storytelling, this title should be appealing to fans of the “Choose Your Own Adventure” TTRPG or visual novel style of gameplay.

As of writing this, the single-player Forgotten Fables: Wolves on the Westwind can be yours via Steam for only $8.19 USD

In this particular offering, you can play as “the grizzled veteran warrior” named Alrik or the young wizard named Nedime. Players are tasked with saving their land from a grim fate at the hands of an ancient evil. Along the way, you will get to meet unique characters that have diverse backstories and abilities. Be cautious because some alliances might be more trustworthy than others.

The gameplay gives you the ability to face enemies head-on or take a more diplomatic approach. Your in-game decisions matter due to a branching storyline and multiple endings.

Here’s the trailer!

I do like the overall artwork. The character design and colors do visualize an appealing fantasy world. And even though the game can be described as a visual novel, I like how there’s still strategy involved when it comes to the battle system. Simply clicking on random options to move the story along won’t cut it.
