Fox’s upcoming Wolverine 3 has found its antagonist. Actor Boyd Holbrook has been added to the project as the lead villain. Check out the details!
According to Deadline, actor Boyd Holbrook will be playing the role of a “relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise who is set against Wolverine.” He will be joining Wolverine 3 along side Hugh Jackman (obviously!) and Patrick Stewart who plays the role of Professor Charles Xavier in Fox’s live-action adaptation of the X-Men comic book series. Details are still under wraps regarding the name of the character Boyd will be portraying.
There have been rumors that Wolverine 3 will be based on the Old Man Logan storyline considering it is presumably Hugh Jackman’s last time as the clawed mutant. Hugh has played the iconic character onscreen for nearly 20 years and Old Man Logan does seem to be the perfect story for his last film to be based on. However, with Patrick Stewart also being part of the film that might not happen.
X-Men: Days of Future Past showed a confused Logan when he came back to his own timeline after he helped stop the Sentinel Program. Maybe the film will pick up from there and Prof. Xavier will help Logan come to terms with the new timeline he is now a part of?
Look forward to more details being released as the film approaches its May shooting date. James Mangold is returning as the director while David James Kelly wrote the script. Wolverine 3 will be the 10th installment in X-Men film series by Fox.
Boyd Holbrook is also one of the main cast members in Narcos which is a crime thriller series on Netflix. It has already been renewed for a second season. Another main cast member from Narcos, actor Pedro Pascal, also got signed on by Fox in the upcoming Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Wolverine 3 is currently scheduled for a 3rd March, 2017 release date.
