Kingsman 3 Confirmed! Looking at a November 2019 Release!
If you have been waiting for a new installment in the Kingsman franchise, you will be happy to know Kingsman 3 has been confirmed. With Matthew Vaughn attached to direct and write the untitled third film, you can expect it in theatres on November 8, 2019!
Even though Kingsman: The Golden Circle wasn’t as enjoyable as the first movie in the series and was problematic, it did a lot for the franchise’s world-building by introducing the US spy organization called the Statesman. Also, with Halle Berry (reportedly) having signed on for a two-picture deal, I hope to see her return in Kingsman 3.
The third film is supposed to begin shooting early next year. With Berry starting production on her directorial debut Bruised in March of 2019, I don’t know how the scheduling will work. Considering her role as Ginger in the Kingsman sequel was a supporting one, I wouldn’t mind seeing her make a cameo in Kingsman 3. Just have her return to the franchise in some capacity. I have my fingers crossed.
Another actress I would like to see return is Sophie Cookson as Roxy. I refuse to believe Roxy is dead. Ha!
Coming to some of the details we know about the third film, Taron Egerton and Colin Firth will, of course, be returning to their respective roles of Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin and Harry Hart. It will be safe to assume Eggsy’s wife Princess Tilde will return, too. There are rumors of Channing Tatum’s Tequila being part of the upcoming movie.
Two new characters are being introduced. They are said to play an important role in Kingsman: The Great Game, which will expand the franchise and is set in the early-1900s, centering around World War I. According to That Hashtag Show, one of the new characters has been described as being a “young, cocky and charming teenager” named Conrad.
Conrad is supposed to be the child of a British Duke and is very enthusiastic about serving the king and country. The role is yet to be cast.
The second new character is supposed to be an older male lead. It is reported Ralph Fiennes is being considered for the role.
The third Kingsman film and The Great Game are supposed to film back-to-back, with the two new characters appearing in flashbacks in Kingsman 3. However, I can’t confirm such a report, yet.
Matthew Vaughn has shown interest in having Dwayne Johnson play the villain. So, let’s see what happens.
There is also an eight-hour TV series in the works along with a Statesman spin-off.
Kingsman: The Secret Service was released in 2015 and was able to gross $414 million against an approx. $94 million production budget. The sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle was able to make $410 million against an approx. production budget of $104 million. It was released in September 2017.
According to The Numbers, as of yet, Kingsman: The Secret Service earned an estimated $37.2 million with DVD and Blu-ray sales while The Golden Circle has made an estimated $20.4 million in the US.
With Disney acquiring Fox, let’s see how Kingsman 3 does and if it is able to impress the House of Mouse enough to allow it to continue with more installments.
If is also interesting to note that Bond 25 was supposed to be released on November 8, 2019. However, with the next Bond installment moving to February 2020, it kind of makes sense for the upcoming Kingsman film to speed up production and fill the empty release window with another spy movie. It will have to go up against Sonic the Hedgehog on the same date.
Also, Wonder Woman 1984 will be opening a week earlier and then there is Terminator 6 on November 15 with Frozen 2 on November 27, 2019. It is going to be a very busy month!
