“Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” Manga Issue 36 Review: Surprise Attack
The latest manga chapter of Boruto, titled ‘Surprise Attack,’ showed that Jigen isn’t a very patient person. Also, I can’t wait for Sasuke to return to the village.
We got a lot of information to try and make sense of in the previous manga chapter. Our lead characters seem to be as confused about what’s going on as the readers. I’m not sure what Jigen’s endgame is, but it’s quite obvious he needs Kawaki.
As far as I can tell, the latest chapter picked up from right where the previous installment ended. Boruto and Mitsuki continued their journey to met Tsunade and talk to her about the Byakugo no Justu while Salad tried to find her mother (Sakura) to gain more information about the seal on the medical ninja’s forehead.
Boruto sensed something was wrong when he, a very capable ninja, lost his balance while jumping through the forest. His Karma mark began to spread. So, of course, he and Mitsuki decided to head back because the mark didn’t act up unless Boruto was in battle or near Kawaki.
Salad found Sakura buying flowers at Ino’s shop. I really enjoyed the scene where Sakura and Ino talked about Sasuke coming back. I appreciated Ino sharing her feelings about Sakura’s married life. I mean, it isn’t ideal considering Sakura and Sasuke’s shared history as well as the fact Sasuke isn’t home much. However, Sakura doesn’t have a lot of choice in the matter because she understands Sasuke has to stay away from the village to protect it from incredibly dangerous threats.
I was hoping ‘Suprise Attack’ would give us details about the Byakugo no Jutsu. The only thing we learned was about it being around since the time of the Sage of the Six Paths. Certain fans will remember Mito Uzumaki had a similar seal on her forehead. Also, I’m surprised Sakura hasn’t begun teaching Salad the Byakugo no Jutsu considering it takes years to store chakra to create the seal. As far as my opinion goes, Sakura should be teaching her daughter some Medical Ninjutsu, too.
Anyway, things turned bad when Jigen teleported inside Naruto house. Yes, it turns out Jigen can use Kawaki’s mark to appear instantly at the boy’s location. Jigen’s appearance even took Kashin Koji by surprise. As for fans thinking Koji is working against Jigen, this manga chapter does support that theory.
I’m looking forward to Naruto fighting Jigen. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the creators decided to nerf Naruto because he will be battling inside the village. I want to see Naruto going all out without worrying about collateral damage. Also, fingers crossed Sasuke arrives to lend some help.
The only thing I didn’t like about ‘Surprise Attack’ has to do with how Sakura decided not to run off to aid Naruto. I understand Naruto told Ino he’ll handle the situation, but come on, Sakura should at least be present somewhere near the location in case her Team 7 member required some medical assistance. It’s not like Sakura will get in the way. She’s basically immortal. She can handle whatever happens.
With the kids running toward danger, maybe Sakura will go to protect them? Let’s see.
What did you think of ‘Surprise Attack’? Do you think Kawaki’s prosthetic arm is being used to monitor him? Let us know.
