“Supergirl” Has Found Its Superman – And It’s Tyler Hoechlin!
Supergirl has a brand new Man of Steel, a face to put to the presence that’s been around all season, and it’s everybody’s favorite sourwolf Tyler Hoechlin!
Just announced today, Tyler will appear as Clark Kent (aka Superman) in the first two episodes of Supergirl season 2, which if you remember was recently moved to the CW (where I’m sure it will fare much better, especially if it’s paired with The Flash). Clark will be visiting cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) in National City.
So far it seems that Tyler may only be in those first two episodes, but considering how often he keeps in touch with Kara, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that he’ll return for later guest spots. (Perhaps during the epic mega-crossover event featuring all four DC/CW shows?)
“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
An interesting already existing connection between Tyler and Supergirl, Tyler was recently earning rave reviews as McReynolds in Everybody Wants Some!!, a movie which also starred Melissa Benoist’s husband, Blake Jenner.
Fans of Tyler can also look forward to his roles as Dells in the upcoming baseball film Undrafted, Marty in the war movie Stratton (co-starring Dominic Cooper and Tom Felton, among others), and… Nope. That’s it. He definitely did not take a role in 50 Shades Darker. No sir.
By the way, Clark Kent is not the only new face you’ll see on Supergirl when it returns for season 2. They’re looking to introduce a few new characters, including Lex Luthor’s sister.
Supergirl will be back in the fall on the CW, Mondays at 8pm.
I am beyond excited for this, because it’s fairly obvious that Tyler should be playing a superhero. Anyone who has ever met him could probably testify that he is exactly the kind of person who would make an amazing Superman. (P.S. Have you seen him in glasses? You’re welcome.) He is genuinely kind, and kind of a nerd, which is one of the many reasons why we love him so much. Berlanti and Co., you couldn’t have picked a better Clark Kent.

This news just made my day!
Ohmigosh, best news of the day!
…it’s shirt-ripping time then?! Oops no gosh that was actually the Hulk, what a waste LOL! ;-P)
Well I hope that we’ll see him wearing the iconic Clark’s glasses at least…& obviously I’m super-duper-happy that Tyler managed to land this cool role, he so totally deserves more recognition (plus he’s such a doll, so even better ;-).
PS-About 50SOGD I wouldn’t worry too much, it’ll surely be a minor role, & if all gets well it’ll help putting his (beautiful) face on the map so to speak; I’m not a fan of the franchising (both as wacko films or bad written books), but I can see how popular they are…so why not taking advantage of it in some measure? Probably it’s what he thought as well before accepting this challenge (in every sense ha-ha..).
Everything was better than staying at Teen Wolf IMO, after how dumbly his character has been treated by the showrunner.
